Hybrid Chestnut (Nova Scotian American x Chinese)

These American x Chinese (Castanea dentata x mollissima) hybrid chestnuts have a growth habit and appearance closer to pure American chestnut than our other hybrids, which tend more towards Chinese traits.  Given their hybrid nature, they likely have somewhat greater blight resistance than pure Americans.

We are very excited to cross these back against our other chestnuts to develop new cold hardy lines suited to the Maritimes.
