Rowan /European Mountain Ash (Sorbus aucuparia) is a small tree native to a wide swath of Eurasia, but widely planted in North America. It produces copious amounts of bright orange-red fruit, which are high in vitamin C and can be prepared into jellies, syrups, wines, and tinctures. The fruit are also used in some traditional medicines. Various European cultures incorporated Rowans into their folklore. Great for attracting birds and pollinators and a showy fruit that lasts well into fall.
