American Plum (Prunus americana)

The American plum (Prunus americana) has several uses.  The fruit are ideal for jams and jellies, while the fragrant white flowers make for an beautiful spring show. They also make an excellent pollinator for hybrid and Asian plum varieties.  Self-fertile but will benefit from more than one planted in the same general area.

Note that we sometimes trim taller trees down to their described height in order to not have to pass additional shipping costs on to our customers. In our experience this has almost no effect on their growth even in the first year of growth after planting. The ample roots make sure of it!
