Buartnut (Juglans cinerea x ailantifolia)

Buartnuts (Juglans cinerea x ailantifolia) are a cross between butternut and heartnut.  These vigorous hybrids grow faster, are more productive, and display more resistant to butternut canker than butternuts.  We're excited to be working with these trees and hope to backcross them with our native butternuts in the coming years.

Note that we sometimes trim taller trees down to their described height in order to not have to pass additional shipping costs on to our customers. In our experience this has almost no effect on their growth even in the first year of growth after planting. The ample roots make sure of it!
