Blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) is a compact, deciduous shrub that combines ornamental beauty with a delicious harvest. These particular seedlings we are selling were grown from fruit collected on a hike past an old abandoned homestead in Coastal New Brunswick. As soon as we approached the site we knew there was blackcurrant in the area because of the distinct aroma of the leaves and fruit that filled the air. The fruits also proved to be tasty so we are growing out seedlings for our own garden and are sharing some with you to try as well! Resistance to blister rust is unknown at this time.
