The American sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) is a large, deciduous tree known for its distinctive, peeling bark and broad, lobed leaves. It thrives in wetland areas and is often found along riverbanks, reaching heights of up to 100 feet (30 meters). It is one of the largest tree species in Eastern North America.
Give it lots of sunlight and a moist (but not constantly soggy) place to grow and they will easily put on 2-3 feet per year in growth.
Seed Source(s): Ontario
Hardiness (Canada): Zones 4b, 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b, 8a [What is my hardiness zone?]

Note that we sometimes trim taller trees down to their described height in order to not have to pass additional shipping costs on to our customers. In our experience this has almost no effect on their growth even in the first year of growth after planting. The ample roots make sure of it!
